5 Tips For The Stay-At-Home Activist

Most of you already know our story. We're two VA moms that were frustrated with the lack of civility and progress in our country’s current political reality...and had to do something.

We have six children between us, two jobs (actually, make that four), not a lot of time but a whole of LOT of passion and hope for better. Vote Like a Girl was our solution. It was launched to inform, inspire and give VOICE to all the women and girls out there that felt the same way we did.

We wanted something that anyone could access at any time - so that she could make a difference on her own time, when she had time, regardless of how much or how little she had to give.

Now, here we are...social distancing from home, but still motivated to change the world. We got this, ladies. Let’s roll!

Here are our 5 tips on how to stay active and change the world… from home. (and, definitely make your way to tip #5... because we’ve got BIG news from our shop).

#1 Stay in the Game!

As you know, we post - JUST ONE THING - every week that you can easily do from home to make a difference on issues you care about. Our action items are pulled from current events, legislative priorities along with our issue areas and the wish list of the 20+ organizations we are supporting.

Actions can be as simple as adding your name to a petition, giving your representative a call or sharing information with friends to rally support for causes you care about. If you have not subscribed to our newsletter - now’s the time. https://www.ivotelikeagirl.com/newsletter

#2 Be an Election Know-it-all.

Yes, we all know there is a Presidential election in November, but there are also many town, city and state elections in your region that you’re going to want to have a say in. Find all the information you need to know about your upcoming elections at our ‘go-to’ - VOTE411.org

  • Get local and state election schedule

  • Find voting deadlines

  • See who and what is on your ballot

  • Find out where candidates stand on issues

  • And, information, links, and requirements for absentee voting by mail (including local alerts and measures being taken to ensure communities can VOTE and be safe during this current public health crisis).

Vote411.org is brought to you by our friends at League of Women Voters. (hint: you can support them with any Vote Like a Girl purchase, just select them in the donation drop-down menu).

#3 Stay Loud and Proud (from a distance).

You know how you can make a statement from 6ft away? With a great tee, hat or tote, and a message for change.

You know how you can make the most of that drive to the grocery store? With a sassy decal on your bumper that gives a nod to girl power and gets out the VOTE.

Want a fun post for your social media feed? Looking for what to wear for your next Facetime with relatives? We’ve got a tee for that just might get the conversation started and give a subtle nod to issues you care about.

We’ve got the gear, you’ve got the passion. We’re not going to let a little social distance slow us down. Let’s go girls!

#4 We’d Love to Be Your ACTIVIST Hub ...and Bring Friends.

We said this earlier, but worth a second mention...if you are not already signed up to receive our newsletter, subscribe now. (and bring friends)!!

Not only do you get 10% off your next purchase, but you also get a weekly dose of great info and motivation to keep pushing for CHANGE...

  • exclusive offers and discounts from our shop

  • deets on the many great organizations we support & how you can help

  • JUST ONE THING you can do each week to move the needle on issues you care about

  • and more!

Bringing real change to our politics is a heavy lift - but, if you want something done ...ask a woman to do it. Gather your tribe girlfriends and let’s get ‘er done!

Email this link to friends and encourage them to sign on, too. :)

#5 If You Can, Help Us Keep Giving Back.

As you know with every purchase from Vote Like a Girl, you can donate a percentage of your purchase to one of the 20+ organizations we support (you choose the cause). We are determined to keep this going as long as we can.

That said, we know this is an uneasy and uncertain time for everyone. In response, we have reduced our costs so that we can pass more savings on to you & continue to fulfill our desire to give back to organizations doing important work on behalf of all of us

Every item in our shop has been reduced and we will continue to donate to the organization of your choice. Please be sure to select the organization you want to support in the donation drop-down menu at checkout.

If you can, we’d love your help - shop now.

Thank you, everyone! Stay safe. Be Well.

xx, The Girls
